so Rene, John and I went to probably the best/most miraculous dodger game we've ever been to. for those who haven't already heard, dodgers were losing to the padres 9-5 in the bottom of the ninth inning. A lot of fans had already filed out, which is typical of dodger fans. But the three of us had hope. What happened next has only happened 4 times EVER in the history of baseball. The first four batters who came up, EACH HIT A HOME RUN. Two were off some crappy pitcher, but two were off the padres' best relief pitcher, trevor hoffman. LOSER! HAHA! And for those who don't know..the dodgers are the worst homerun hitting team in their league. To hit 7 homeruns in one game is...amazing!
anywho, dodgers tie the game at 9, and go in to the tenth inning. at the top of the tenth, the padres score a run, and again, more dodger fans file out. And yet, with my rally cap in hand, the three of us stayed, hoping for another miracle. AND WHAT HAPPENS? Kenny Lofton gets on base and then Nomar Garciaparra...the guy had done nothing the whole day, steps up to the plate. Fans are all on their feet, cheering. The noise grows louder. and then....HOME FUCKING RUN. DODGERS WIN THE GAME!
The fans went freakin crazy. Everyone was high fiving and hugging strangers. I got plenty of hugs and high fives, even after the game was over. Just walking to the car, we heard plenty of cars honking, and plenty of fans still yelling. Hell, even as we were driving, this truck of girls asked us if we were dodger fans, and when we said yes, we all hooted and hollered.
what a great day in baseball. Dodgers retake first place from the padres, and the giants get destroyed in colorado 20-8.Mood: excited

I woke up Sunday morning at 4AM to go help out in Chinatown with the Firecracker Run. 4am....god, how do some of you do it. No one should be awake at that hour.
So I get there with my fellow ACA staffers and a few members, and we get assigned to do random stuff. Some got put on trash duty, others were in charge of food and drinks that would be given to runners after they finished their 5k or 10k runs. David, Jeff and I were put in charge of moving a table from the info booth to the street. So David and I start moving the desk to the street when this one guy with a walkie talkie (he was also wearing a USC cap too if that will add to his character) and starts shouting TABLE STEALERS, TABLE STEALERS! SOMEBODY STOP THEM! David and I just kind of stood there. We were told to move the table, now this guy (with a usc cap on) was standing there, with his walkie talkie, thinking he caught these guys who woke up at 4 in the freakin morning to steal an old fold out table. Finally another guy came over and told him that we were told to move the tables and that we were VOLUNTEERS who had the volunteer shirts on, and everything was back to normal.
Later that day, which was like 8AM, I saw this guy running towards where the run was going to start. He looked REALLY familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then it came to me....THAT'S LIU KANG from the Mortal Kombat movies! Of course I had forgotten that his real name is Robin Shou, but that is besides the point. He will forever be Liu Kang to me. So Jeff, Brian, JT and I tried to get a pic with him. We weren't sure if he was actually Liu Kang, so we got JT to ask. She thought his real name was Liu Kang, so when she asked, he just looked at her and LAUGHED! then he pointed to the guy next to him and said, "hey, this guy played Raiden in the second movie!" and low and behold, it was RAIDEN from the second movie. Yah, it wasn't christopher lambert, but oh well. still got a pic anyways.
the pics:
 Liu Kang!
Raiden...he has a super long arm in real life...
So yes, I enjoyed working at this community service event. Info booth is not too tough a job, except for those angry people who come by asking where their free tshirts are. oh well.

the racist comedian.
is it alright for them to make racist jokes as long as they make fun of their own race?
is it wrong for us to laugh at their racist jokes?
are they easing tensions amongst the races, or just promoting stereotypes?
recently, adam carolla made fun of the Asian Excellence Awards. Please, lend me your ear
